Apples have been cultivated for thousands of years throughout Asia and Europe and are notable for their impressive list of phytonutrients and antioxidants. They are believed to have health promoting and disease preventing properties justifying the adage “an apple a day keeps the doctor away”.  Although at a rate of just one apple a day and with over 7000 varieties it would take nineteen years to sample every type!
